June 4, 2020: For obvious reasons, the Black Panthers have been on my mind, as has seeking white allies and accomplices to look up to. Orissa Arend satisfies both! Her book, "Showdown in Desire: The Black Panthers Take a Stand in New Orleans," is fantastic, and a good example of elevating and amplifying colored voices. A recommended addition to the bookshelves I hope everyone's reading out, if you've not read. She's also got various excellent articles up at The Lens. (Photographer unknown)
