Mescal, October 17, 2020
I met Mescal under harried circumstances - I had to adjourn my first pre-trial appearance in traffic court in order to keep my first full-time (traveling) job in six months, which involved a rushed trip to the library and then PO to print and mail a sternly worded yet cheerful certified letter. The first PO closed in the interim between my going to the library and returning with the printed page, but the clerk magnanimously steered me to a nearby branch with longer hours, I think partly wowed by my ability to ask after a branch that stayed open past noon on a Saturday (as surely none will if DeJoy's allowed to continue his rampage). I drove along a lovely one-lane road to the next town and met Mescal, who had a completely delightful temperament, and helped make the whole hell errand, on my day off, seem a bit more palatable.
