January 9, 2021: I, inspired by a group of incredible women, take my Januaries as a detox from cis men, not reading, watching, or listening to anything made by any of them. This inevitably results in a rollicking library queue; this week, I devoured "Her Body and Other Parties" and "In The Dream House," back to back, books I've been meaning to read for years. The latter completely exceeded my expectations, and got me thinking about where, when, and how queer women really landed on my radar. The answer is Dorothy Allison. I wrote her a tip of the hat and a thank you. (Photographer unknown)
