April 26, 2020: 0ne metric by which I'm doing quite well: I am rich in quarantine crushes. Alison Roman ranks as my abiding domestic goddess. Her Passover recipes inspired a zoom seder with pals (I'm not Jewish, but in isolation in essentially the kingdom of matzo of the Upper West Side), and I feel like bowing every time she rolls out a flexible recipe with hilarious commentary. This week my parents surprised me by ordering me "Dining In," and when I told my mother she was my intended fan mail, she exclaimed, "She seems so fun!" She's relatable, she's accommodating, she's adorable - SHE, not her chicken matzo ball soup I made, is Jewish penicillin, and I cannot thank my lucky starts loudly enough that she's around.
