March 5, 2021: The other day, on a dog walk, I overheard a couple debating Dr. Angela Davis. An absolute encomium was met with the deflated statement, "I just find her to be overrated," which made me laugh out loud. I debated pretending the dog had done something hilarious or concocting some other sort of alibi but instead I just shook my head while making eye contact and continued walking. Davis is not a woman to be disparaged. Sometimes the lag in writing a hero is epic because I'm afraid of what to say; this applies to Davis, but, I realized, what if haters are giving her disproportionate feedback? I can't stand for it.
