February 20, 2021: One of the many delights of being back in New Orleans is having such short waits for my library queue. I pre-placed a request for Torrey Peters' "Detransition, Baby," based on a recommendation tweet from Jamie Lauren Keiles, who's not only my favorite journalist but also one of the best teachers I've ever had - a combination I would follow anywhere. I'm grateful to have devoured the novel before all the hype set in, and for reminding me how soothing and wonderful novels can be, experientially - I'd been thrown out of whack leaning too hard on non-fiction.
