June 17, 2020: Any knowledge of Robert Hillary King, like Herman Wallace and Robert Woodfox, the other members of the so-called Angola 3, is a meditation on injustice and rehabilitation. King's become known for his 'freelines,' a take on pralines he began making while incarcerated. and whose profits he uses to help enable sharing the story of himself and his comrades (Wallace died two days after his release, in 2013 - I recommend exploring 'Herman's House' to explore what he endured). I find it 'interesting,' to say the least, to consider what we expect of the formerly incarcerated, the public thirst for feel-good stories amidst a pandemic of state-sanctioned torture.
