July 23, 2016: I was arrested in Baton Rouge while protesting the murder of Alton Sterling. That morning, I'd begun re-reading Rebecca Solnit's "A Paradise Built in Hell," which proved prescient: the scene in the parking lot upon my release was one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. She knows to expect this; I wrote to thank her for waking me up to it. (Photograph by Mooney Jude)
