July 12, 2019: Nari Ward's retrospective at the New Museum is often on my mind - it's the last time walking into an art installation completely winded me, and I listen to Mahalia Jackson's "Amazing Grace" regularly as a reminder (y'all who know, know). His ethos is exactly right; he's an artist I can't believe I get to exist concurrently with - I find it incredibly reassuring. (Photo by Lee Jaffe)
