June 10, 2020: I was introduced to Mario Ybarra, Jr. through my work as a transcriber for the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, the first institution I have any affiliation with to issue a solidarity statement that really felt supportive. Ybarra was a resident artist years ago, but continues to embody a lot of what I hope to, most importantly, nourishing community work. And in an incredibly unpretentious way, which, for me, is crucial. (Photographer unknown)
