Hayes, April 21, 2020
Hayes, who is one of my very own letter carriers, is who kicked off this project. I met him in my lobby, on my way to the post office, bearing my usual baked goods - this time, brownies, one of which Hayes gleefully accepted. He showed me family vacation photos so that we could bond as photographers, and encouraged me to keep going. This was the perfect start, as it made me realize I could potentially grant myself a neighborhood-friendly Richard Scarry-style lifestyle through fighting for one of the things that makes it so. (Richard Scarry, a fan of urban infrastructure, naturally celebrates postal workers - he has a whole book about Postman Pig.)
