I cemented my commitment to this project by interrupting my duties steering some friends' nuptial tandem bike I'd helped finish decorating to pursue this beauty; this is why I was sufficiently flustered to fail to get her name. This was my first time doing that, but my umpteenth seeing someone suddenly take the prospect of a portrait more seriously when I get my film camera out - I do all portraits on both my phone and my Olympus, for expediency and to make it all fail safe. No one has ever put on lipgloss or preened or reconsidered their pose when I take out my phone, but it happens constantly with the camera, which I find tremendously validating as a fan of all things analogue. (This is her pose for my camera, which I asked to re-take on my phone, as, horrifyingly, my battery camera died and I was caught without a back-up.)
