April 6, 2019: A few days ago I got to see "Deo," my first exposure to Bobbi Jene Smith. Paired with an uproariously funny piece by Martha Graham ("Socratic Island"), I can't stop thinking about it - one of the women I was with felt like I did, that the group of women dancers were expressing facets of our personalities, the way you dilate and dilute daily. There was a moment of a group hug, which, reliably, make my heart soar, particularly after taking a group of my female friends into my arms at a party last November and shouting, "We're women, THANK G0D!" Bobbi Jene seems to be on this tip - she refers to women as mountains and has a very vivid, realistic read on sexuality. Shallow into rabbithole on her, I'm already enamored. Working in a den of men, I need female buoys, and I'm grasping her hard. (Still from "Bobbi")
