An homage to true auteur John Wilson. He loves the lottery and is prone to making masterpieces (viewable at www.johnsmovies.com) about observed oddities in New York. As a present to him, I printed a shot of him - taken by our pal Chris Maggio - looking particularly deadpan and pasted it to cutouts of Ralph Buckley, a Lotto spokesman, throughout the city. I eventually talked my way into ownership of my very own Ralph, who I lugged around the city shooting. A treasure hunt mystery unfolded over Instagram (@wilsons_millions); it only persisted as long as it did due to my flagrant fibbing. The photographs of John himself - repeatedly mistaken for a lottery winner who'd become the new formal spokesman - come from a glorious day I spent faux sleuthing with him. He only formally found out I was the culprit through a confession, provoked mostly by my return to New Orleans.
