Robert Frank's "The Americans" is one of my favorite books of all time, and, somewhat rudely, I decided to ignore his noted reclusiveness to effuse directly to him. That Jack Kerouac's introduction includes the line, "that little ole lonely elevator girl looking up sighing in an elevator full of blurred demons, what's her name & address?" felt oddly encouraging.
