March 14, 2022: It recently came to my attention that Catherine O'Hara has a Canadian postage stamp. Canada seems to understand the importance of people collecting their flowers while alive! I intend to write USPS and encourage the same - death as a pre-requisite for appearing on a stamp seems unrealistically hagiographic. I don't know how he feels about letters - there's no way to send one on his website - but Hanif Abdurraqib is who I'd nominate as the first person to appear on a stamp in their lifetime. He, a poet, critic, and essayist, is a king of giving folks their flowers - I'd point you particularly to his essay on Merry Clayton in "A Little Devil in America." I imagine life as his dog to be incredibly good. (Photographer unknown, potentially the man himself.)
